Moving Forward through Grief to Wholeness
Being inside of grief makes it difficult to see from the outside that anything will ever help you feel better, it can feel like life will just be like this from now on.
After all, nothing can take the loss away, so how can you live “normally” again?
And if you do start to enjoy life just a little, doesn’t it mean that your loss wasn’t “important” enough?
There is hope and there is help
Grief can come in many ways. We typically think of losing a loved one in death:
- Spouse / partner
- Child
- Parent
- Sibling
- Close friend or relative
- Pet
But it can also come in with other types of losses like:
- Miscarriage or stillbirth
- Loss of Health
- Loss of Way of life (financial or physical)
- Loss of Faith in humanity
- Divorce
- Loss of Relationships
- Loss of Job / Career
And there are certainly other examples. You can grieve someone who you weren’t even that close to but symbolizes loss, change, and the inevitability of future loss in your life.
You may even try to tell yourself you shouldn’t feel grief because the person/pet lived a long life, or was in failing health and aren’t suffering now, or you didn’t like the person that much, or you are the one that initiated it (like a divorce) so when you do feel grief, you also layer on feelings of guilt, self-judgment, and confusion.
Grief can also manifest in different ways in addition to typical sadness and emptiness, you may feel:
- Overwhelm
- Procrastination
- Disinterest
- Depression
- Heaviness
- Flatness
- Fatigue
- Dis-ease
- Lack of Motivation
- Lack of Engagement
- Inability to Enjoy things
- Constriction in chest, throat, or stomach
- Poor Immune System
It doesn't matter how grief and loss comes in, what matters most is what you do to heal those feelings
The passage of time alone doesn’t really HEAL those wounds, sometimes it just desensitizes you to the grief feelings.
But when you acknowledge and process your feelings, including “negative” ones, you can begin to feel lighter, stronger, happier, more joyful and more creative! You start to feel motivation again, and desire to actually enjoy your life.
Healing Our Whole Selves is self-care for when you are ready or starting to feel ready to allow yourself to let go of what no longer supports your highest good.
When the student is ready, the teacher appears.

CASE STUDY: GUILT FROM STILLBIRTH
Amelia could not sleep. She could not turn off the Mean Girl in her mind that was always telling her she wasn’t good enough, smart enough, pretty enough, just never enough. When she came to me it had been ages since she really felt rested. Her guilt from having a stillbirth many years before was still working on her. We did a healing technique, and she was able to sleep through the night for the first time in many years.
CASE STUDY: LOSS OF DAUGHTER-IN-LAW
When Doris lost her daughter-in-law, who was her spiritual sister, she was so bereft. She couldn’t really enjoy life and missed her terribly. She also knew that grief was keeping her from things that she loved to do and her energy wasn’t what it once was. When we had our first session she felt lighter, happier and more present than she had since her daughter-in-law’s passing! She said, “I thought this would take months! I feel so much better already!” During a later session she had a physical complaint and she was worried that she wouldn’t be able to go on the excursions her family cruise would offer. She’d have to stay on the boat and miss out. When we worked on the spiritual/emotional cause of the pain, it went away completely! She went on all the trips and had the time of her life!
