Sophia Zoe began her holistic healing journey in high school. She studied over 25 healing methods and has helped thousands of people and many animals, too. Despite nine doctors’ reports concluding “Patient not expected to recover,” Sophia healed herself of the 85 injuries and dysfunctions that resulted from a near-fatal car collision in 2005.
In 2018, Sophia was suddenly unable to sleep. She would toss and turn and get up for the washroom for up to seven hours per night. Finally, Sophia would fall asleep when others were having breakfast. At most, she could get a total of two hours of sleep. Every few days, she would “crash” and sleep ten or twelve hours – which was never enough to make up for all the lost sleep. This meant she could not ever make plans, not knowing when she would crash or be unable to drive due to extreme fatigue.
Nearly every available treatment option was explored. Each one gave Sophia some relief for only one or two nights. Without sleeping, Sophia had no energy or mental function to see clients and do her healing work. She gained two pounds every night that she couldn’t sleep at all. She was bloated, in pain, irritable, lethargic and truly miserable.
During another attempt to find a solution, Sophia read that it could be helpful for sleep induction to do something calming to the nervous system in the evening, such as doing a creative activity. There was a sketch book and pen on the table beside her. Sophia began doodling. She made an irregular, bold, jaggedy design, in alignment with her anger and frustration at having insomnia.
By the time she had filled the page, Sophia was yawning. She got right into bed and fell asleep immediately, for two hours! In subsequent nights, after doodling, Sophia slept a little more each night…right up to the present, where Sophia can get into bed and be asleep in five minutes, and can stay asleep for six to eight hours. This has been life-changing!
Sophia enrolled in an art therapy program to become an art therapist, so she could understand how doodling helped her. She now runs workshops and a weekly program, primarily using doodling to heal various issues, including insomnia.
This experience supports Sophia’s belief that there are no hopeless cases. There’s always a way to help.

“Studies from various countries show that about half of those affected by sexualised violence – whether in times of peace or war – suffer long-term consequences such as insomnia, uncontrollable flashbacks, or anxiety.”
Transgenerational trauma – violence is inherited
DESCRIPTION: Night trauma could be from childhood, as in hearing parents fight while they thought the children were asleep. It could be feeling scared by sounds or shadows or monsters under the bed. It could be child neglect, as in not being comforted while crying at night. Very useful for anyone who was molested, sexually abused or raped while asleep. Unprocessed trauma is passed down to future generations, so you may be carrying such trauma effects from your ancestors, even if that trauma didn’t happen to you in this current life.
Night trauma might also be from adulthood, as in getting bad news in the middle of the night, fighting with a partner, having work stress, etc.
This group process is designed to be non-triggering. No one will be sharing their story.
